This coffee is produced by smallholder farmers from ECA Hermogenes Montellano, a vibrant community of people who have gone through a lot to become who they are. It was formed with much difficulty after the civil war, and farmers that settled here came from four to five different tribal backgrounds and languages. Today, they have built a growing community despite the language barriers and cultural differences. After only a year of making changes in coffee farming and production, their Specialty Lot scored 82 points, and this second year is now is an 86. They’ve raised their standards so high in a short amount of time, and this is just the beginning of their work to incorporate more farmers to keep growing in specialty coffee and and continue impacting their community.
