The Gititu Farmers Co-opertive Society was established in 1971 under and owned by small scale farmers, and today includes 3,000 members. It’s among the best factories producing top coffees in Kenya. Coffee cultivation has improved the livelihoods of infrastructure, education, water, electricity, and employment to say the least, and is the only cash crop apart from subsistence farming and dairy farming.
